Toc H Brisbane Branch is a group of about 15 committed and active members who undertake grass roots community service in the local area. It is supported by a brigade of enthusiastic volunteers who help with particular projects. The branch has a proud 80 year history and in 2009 merged with the Brisbane Toc H Action Group.
The branch generally meets four times each year. These meetings are relatively informal and held in a relaxed setting on the inner north side of Brisbane at The Coffee Club, Shop 1, 1422-1428 Logan Road, Mt Gravatt. For convenience, there is regular communication by e-mail and telephone with Facebook notices of upcoming events.
The main projects undertaken by the branch each year are:
|Children’s Camp||Camp for children living with cancer and their families. It is organised by the Childhood Cancer Support group (www.ccs.org.au) with Toc H providing volunteers to help and supervise.||Aratula (near Cunningham’s Gap)|
|Ekka Outing||Taking over 200 sick and disadvantaged kids from the Royal Children’s Hospital, Childhood Cancer Support group, Ipswich Women’s Shelter, Murri Sisters, Nundah Shelter and other groups to the Ekka for a fun day of rides, games, showbags and lunch to lift their spirits.||RNA Showgrounds, O’Connell Terrace, Bowen Hills|
|Children’s Christmas Party||Held in partnership with the Childhood Cancer Support group (www.ccs.org.au) to bring the spirit of Christmas to sick and disadvantaged kids. The day includes boat rides on the Brisbane River, jumping castle, face painting and a visit from Santa. Toc H provides helpers on the day to cook a BBQ lunch and help run activities.||Orleigh Park, Hill End Terrace, West End|
